An excellent book to accompany Thérèse’s own Story of a Soul is The Spiritual Journey of Thérèse of Lisieux by Guy Gaucher, Bishop of Meaux, a Carmelite and an international authority on the life and writings of Thérèse. It is free of the sentimentality with which people sweeten the life of a remarkably down-to-earth saint.
