In 1901 the writer Hilaire Belloc walked to Rome from Toul, in France, where he had served his military service as an artilleryman. He walked as close to a straight line as he could.
“The Path to Rome” is an exuberant narrative of this epic journey and is enormously worth reading. You can get it electronically on the Project Gutenberg website.
These pages have fewer features than the apps, and some pages (such as Spiritual Reading) are not available.
