Our Lord Jesus Christ the Eternal High Priest
Let us give glory to Christ who has an eternal priesthood.
Year: A(II). Liturgical Colour: White.
|Mid-morning reading (Terce)||Hebrews 7:26-27 ©|
The ideal high priest would have to be holy, innocent and uncontaminated, beyond the influence of sinners, and raised up above the heavens; one who would not need to offer sacrifices every day, as the other high priests do for their own sins and then for those of the people, because Jesus Christ our Lord has done this once and for all by offering himself.
|Noon reading (Sext)||1 Peter 2:4-5 ©|
The Lord is the living stone, rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him; set yourselves close to him so that you too, the holy priesthood that offers the spiritual sacrifices which Jesus Christ has made acceptable to God, may be living stones making a spiritual house.
|Afternoon reading (None)||1 Peter 2:9-10 ©|
You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a consecrated nation, a people set apart to sing the praises of God who called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people at all and now you are the People of God; once you were outside the mercy and now you have been given mercy.
