First reading
Galatians 4:22-24, 26-27, 31-5:1

‘We are not children of the slave but of the free woman.’

Brothers and Sisters: It is written that Abraham had two sons, one by a slave woman and one by a free woman. The son of the slave was born according to the flesh, while the son of the free woman was born through promise. Now this may be interpreted allegorically: these women are two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai, bearing children for slavery; she is Hagar. But the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother. For it is written, ‘Rejoice, O barren one who does not bear; break forth and cry aloud, you who are not in labour! For the children of the desolate one will be more than those of the one who has a husband.’ So, brothers and sisters, we are not children of the slave but of the free woman.
For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.

Responsorial Psalm
Ps 113(112):1-2. 3-4. 5a, 6-7. ℟2
May the name of the Lord be blest for evermore!
or: Alleluia.
Praise, O servants of the Lord,
praise the name of the Lord!
May the name of the Lord be blest
both now and for evermore!
May the name of the Lord be blest for evermore!
or: Alleluia.
From the rising of the sun to its setting,
praised be the name of the Lord!
High above all nations is the Lord,
above the heavens his glory.
May the name of the Lord be blest for evermore!
or: Alleluia.
Who is like the Lord, our God,
who lowers himself to look down
upon heaven and earth?
From the dust he lifts up the lowly,
from the ash heap he raises the poor.
May the name of the Lord be blest for evermore!
or: Alleluia.

Gospel Acclamation
Cf. Psalm 95(94):8a, 7c
Alleluia, alleluia.
Harden not your hearts today,
but listen to the voice of the Lord.
Alleluia.

GospelLuke 11:29-32

‘No sign will be given to this generation except the sign of the Prophet Jonah.’

At that time: When the crowds were increasing, Jesus began to say, ‘This generation is an evil generation. It seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah. For as Jonah became a sign to the people of Nineveh, so will the Son of Man be to this generation. The Queen of the South will rise up at the judgement with the men of this generation and condemn them, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold, something greater than Solomon is here. The men of Nineveh will rise up at the judgement with this generation and condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and behold, something greater than Jonah is here.’

First reading
1 Corinthians 9:16-19, 22-23

‘Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel!’

Brothers and Sisters: If I preach the gospel, that gives me no ground for boasting. For necessity is laid upon me. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel! For if I do this of my own will, I have a reward, but if not of my own will, I am still entrusted with a stewardship. What then is my reward? That in my preaching I may present the gospel free of charge, so as not to make full use of my right in the gospel.
For, though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them. To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings.

Responsorial Psalm
Ps 96(95):1-2a. 2b-3. 7-8a. 10. ℟3
Proclaim the wonders of the Lord among all the peoples.
or: Alleluia.
O sing a new song to the Lord;
sing to the Lord, all the earth.
O sing to the Lord; bless his name.
Proclaim the wonders of the Lord among all the peoples.
or: Alleluia.
Proclaim his salvation day by day.
Tell among the nations his glory,
and his wonders among all the peoples.
Proclaim the wonders of the Lord among all the peoples.
or: Alleluia.
Ascribe to the Lord, you families of peoples,
ascribe to the Lord glory and power;
ascribe to the Lord the glory of his name.
Proclaim the wonders of the Lord among all the peoples.
or: Alleluia.
Say to the nations, ‘The Lord is king.’
The world he made firm in its place;
he will judge the peoples in fairness.
Proclaim the wonders of the Lord among all the peoples.
or: Alleluia.

Gospel AcclamationMt28:19,20
Alleluia, alleluia!
Go, make disciples of all the nations.
I am with you always; yes, to the end of time.
Alleluia!

Gospel
Matthew 28:16-20

‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.’

At that time: The eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. And when they saw him they worshipped him, but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’
