Optátus votis ómnium
sacrátus illúxit dies,
quo Christus, mundi spes, Deus,
conscéndit cælos árduos.
Magni triúmphum prœ́lii,
mundi perémpto príncipe,
Patris præséntans vúltibus
victrícis carnis glóriam,
In nube fertur lúcida
et spem facit credéntibus,
iam paradísum réserans
quem protoplásti cláuserant.
O grande cunctis gáudium,
quod partus nostræ Vírginis,
post sputa, flagra, post crucem
patérnæ sedi iúngitur.
Agámus ergo grátias
nostræ salútis víndici,
nostrum quod corpus véxerit
sublíme ad cæli régiam.
Sit nobis cum cæléstibus
commúne manens gáudium:
illis, quod semet óbtulit,
nobis, quod se non ábstulit.
Nunc, Christe, scandens ǽthera
ad te cor nostrum súbleva,
tuum Patrísque Spíritum
emíttens nobis cǽlitus. Amen.

O Christ, the Light of heaven
And of the world true Light,
You come in all your radiance
To cleave the web of night.
May what is false within us
Before your truth give way,
That we may live untroubled,
With quiet hearts this day.
May steadfast faith sustain us,
And hope made firm in you;
The love that we have wasted,
O God of love, renew.
Blest Trinity we praise you
In whom our quest will cease;
Keep us with you for ever
In happiness and peace.

Hymnus post victoriam de hostibus
Sperávimus in Dómino; dedit pacem nobis, allelúia.
1Urbs fortis nobis in salútem;*
pósuit muros et antemurále.
2Aperíte portas, et ingrediátur gens iusta,*
quæ servat fidem.
3Propósitum eius est firmum;*
servábis pacem, quia in te sperávit.
4Speráte in Dóminum in sǽculis ætérnis,*
Dóminus est petra ætérna.
7Sémita iusti recta est;*
rectum callem iusti complánas.
8Et in sémita iudiciórum tuórum, Dómine, sperávimus in te;*
12Dómine, dabis pacem nobis;*
ómnia enim ópera nostra operátus es nobis.
Glória Patri et Fílio*
et Spirítui Sancto.
Sicut erat in princípio et nunc et semper*
et in sǽcula sæculórum.
Amen.
Sperávimus in Dómino; dedit pacem nobis, allelúia.

Thanksgiving for victoryWe put our trust in the Lord and he gave us peace. Alleluia.
The city is ours,
with its walls and ramparts,
a refuge and stronghold.
Open the gates, let the just people enter,
the nation that keeps faith.
The agreement is made: you will keep peace,
for peace is entrusted to you.
Trust in the Lord for all ages,
for the Lord is your strength for ever.
The way of the just is straight;
you smooth the straight path of the just.
As we follow the path of your judgements,
we put all our trust in you, Lord.
Our soul’s one desire
is your name and your memory.
My soul longs for you at night,
my desire for you leaves me breathless.
When your judgements shine out on the earth –
then the peoples of the world will know your justice.
Lord, you will give us peace,
for all you have done, you did for us.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning,
is now, and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.
We put our trust in the Lord and he gave us peace. Alleluia.

Ps 66 (67)
| Psalm 66 (67)
|
|
God raised Jesus from the dead, and for many days he appeared to those who had accompanied him from Galilee to Jerusalem: and it is these same companions of his who are now his witnesses before our people. We have come here to tell you the Good News. It was to our ancestors that God made the promise but it is to us, their children, that he has fulfilled it, by raising Jesus from the dead. As scripture says in the second psalm: You are my son: today I have become your father.

℣. Surréxit Dóminus de sepúlcro,* Allelúia, allelúia. Surréxit.

The Lord has risen from the dead, alleluia, alleluia.
– The Lord has risen from the dead, alleluia, alleluia.
For our sake he died on the cross, alleluia, alleluia.
– The Lord has risen from the dead, alleluia, alleluia.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
– The Lord has risen from the dead, alleluia, alleluia.

De Messia eiusque præcursoreResurréxit Dóminus a mórtuis, sicut díxerat; exsultémus et lætémur omnes, quóniam ipse regnat in ætérnum, allelúia.
Benedíctus Dóminus Deus Israel,*
quia visitávit et fecit redemptiónem plebi suæ
et eréxit cornu salútis nobis*
in domo David púeri sui,
sicut locútus est per os sanctórum,*
qui a sæculo sunt, prophetárum eius,
salútem ex inimícis nostris*
et de manu ómnium, qui odérunt nos;
in remissiónem peccatórum eórum,
per víscera misericórdiæ Dei nostri,*
in quibus visitábit nos óriens ex alto,
illumináre his, qui in ténebris et in umbra mortis sedent*
ad dirigéndos pedes nostros in viam pacis.
Glória Patri et Fílio*
et Spirítui Sancto.
Sicut erat in princípio et nunc et semper*
et in sǽcula sæculórum.
Amen.
Resurréxit Dóminus a mórtuis, sicut díxerat; exsultémus et lætémur omnes, quóniam ipse regnat in ætérnum, allelúia.

The Messiah and his forerunnerThe Lord has risen from the dead, as he promised. Let us all rejoice and be glad: he is king for ever and ever, alleluia.
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,
for he has come to his people and brought about their redemption.
He has raised up the sign of salvation
in the house of his servant David,
as he promised through the mouth of the holy ones,
his prophets through the ages:
to rescue us from our enemies
and all who hate us,
to take pity on our fathers,
to remember his holy covenant
and the oath he swore to Abraham our father,
that he would give himself to us,
that we could serve him without fear
– freed from the hands of our enemies –
in uprightness and holiness before him,
for all of our days.
And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High:
for you will go before the face of the Lord to prepare his path,
to let his people know their salvation,
so that their sins may be forgiven.
Through the bottomless mercy of our God,
one born on high will visit us
to give light to those who walk in darkness,
who live in the shadow of death;
to lead our feet in the path of peace.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning,
is now, and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.
The Lord has risen from the dead, as he promised. Let us all rejoice and be glad: he is king for ever and ever, alleluia.

– Christe, da nobis Spíritum tuum.
Verbum tuum, Christe, hábitet in nobis abundánter,

Da nobis sapiéntiam in agéndo,
ut ómnia ad Dei glóriam faciámus.

Christ the Lord has promised us the Holy Spirit, whom he sends from the Father. Let us give glory to him, saying:
– Christ, our Lord, give us your Spirit.
Lord Jesus, may your word in all its richness dwell within us;
let us sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness to you.
– Christ, our Lord, give us your Spirit.
Through the Holy Spirit you have made us sons of God;
at all times let us pray through the Spirit to you and the Father.
– Christ, our Lord, give us your Spirit.
Guide our actions by your wisdom;
in the events of daily living let us tell of God’s glory.
– Christ, our Lord, give us your Spirit.
You are long-suffering and full of compassion;
help us to live at peace with everyone.
– Christ, our Lord, give us your Spirit.
|
Pater noster, qui es in cælis:
sanctificétur nomen tuum;
advéniat regnum tuum;
fiat volúntas tua, sicut in cælo et in terra.
Panem nostrum cotidiánum da nobis hódie;
et dimítte nobis débita nostra,
sicut et nos dimíttimus debitóribus nostris;
et ne nos indúcas in tentatiónem;
sed líbera nos a malo.
| Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
|
Præsta, quǽsumus, omnípotens et miséricors Deus, ut Spíritus Sanctus advéniens templum nos glóriæ suæ dignánter inhabitándo perfíciat.
Per Dóminum nostrum Iesum Christum, Fílium tuum,
qui tecum vivit et regnat in unitáte Spíritus Sancti, Deus,
per ómnia sǽcula sæculórum.
Amen.
| God of power and mercy,
grant that when the Holy Spirit comes
he may dwell in us
and make us a temple filled with his glory.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
|
Amen.
| The Lord bless us, and keep us from all evil, and bring us to everlasting life.
Amen.
