O Lord, make haste to help us.

and to the Holy Spirit,

is now, and ever shall be,
world without end.

Come, Holy Spirit, live in us
With God the Father and the Son,
And grant us your abundant grace
To sanctify and make us one.
May mind and tongue made strong in love
Your praise throughout the world proclaim,
And may that love within our hearts
Set fire to others with its flame.
Most blessèd Trinity of love,
For whom the heart of man was made,
To you be praise in timeless song,
And everlasting homage paid.

Ps 118:121-128
| Psalm 118(119): 121-128Save us, Christ our Saviour, by the power of the cross. You saved Peter from the waves, have mercy on us.
I have lived in righteousness and justice:
do not hand me over to my oppressors.
Watch over the well-being of your servant:
do not let the proud oppress me.
My eyes are weary with waiting for your help
and for the fulfilment of your promises.
Treat your servant with your loving kindness
and teach me your statutes.
I am your servant, give me understanding
and knowledge of your decrees.
The time has come for the Lord to act:
people are ignoring your law.
And so I love your commandments
better than gold, purest gold.
And so I shall direct my life by your precepts:
I hate all deceptive ways.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning,
is now, and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.

Ps 33:2-11
| Psalm 33 (34)
|
Ps 33:12-2312Veníte, fílii, audíte me:*
timórem Dómini docébo vos.
13Quis est homo, qui vult vitam,*
díligit dies, ut vídeat bonum?
14Próhibe linguam tuam a malo,*
Amen.
Salva nos, Christe salvátor, per virtútem crucis; qui salvásti Petrum in mari, miserére nobis.
| Psalm 33 (34)Come, children, listen to me:
I shall teach you the fear of the Lord.
Who is the man who desires life,
who wants to live long to enjoy good things?
Do not let your tongue speak evil:
let your lips not utter deceit.
Avoid evil, do good:
seek peace and follow it.
The eyes of the Lord are on the just
and his ears hear their cries;
but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil:
he wipes their memory from the earth.
The just cried out, and the Lord listened
and freed them from all their many troubles.
The Lord is close to the broken-hearted:
the crushed in spirit he will save.
Many are the troubles of the just,
but the Lord will free them from all of them.
He will protect all their bones:
not one will be broken.
Their own evil destroys sinners:
those who hate the just will be punished.
The Lord will redeem the souls of his servants:
those who put their hope in him will not be punished.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning,
is now, and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.
Save us, Christ our Saviour, by the power of the cross. You saved Peter from the waves, have mercy on us.
|
|
During his life on earth, Christ offered up prayer and entreaty, aloud and in silent tears, to the one who had the power to save him out of death, and he submitted so humbly that his prayer was heard. Although he was Son, he learnt to obey through suffering; but having been made perfect, he became for all who obey him the source of eternal salvation.
|
℣. Adorámus te, Christe, et benedícimus tibi.
℟. Quia per crucem tuam redemísti mundum.
| ℣. We worship you, Christ, and we bless you.
℟. By your cross you have redeemed the world.
|
Oremus.
Deus, qui Unigénitum tuum crucem subíre voluísti, ut salvum fáceret genus humánum, præsta, quǽsumus, ut, cuius mystérium in terra cognóvimus, eius redemptiónis prǽmia in cælo cónsequi mereámur.
Per Christum Dóminum nostrum.
Amen.
| Let us pray.
God our Father,
in obedience to your will
your Only-Begotten Son endured the cross for our salvation.
Grant that as we have come to know the mystery of the cross here on earth,
we may receive its rewards in heaven.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
|
Benedicámus Dómino.
– Deo grátias.
| Let us praise the Lord.
– Thanks be to God.
