Mary Immaculate, star of the morning,
Chosen before the creation began,
Chosen to bring in the light of thy dawning,
Woe to the serpent and rescue to man.
Here, in this world of both shadow and sadness
Veiling thy splendour, thy course hast thou run:
Now thou art throned in all glory and gladness,
Crowned by the hand of thy Saviour and Son.
Sinners, we worship thy sinless perfection;
Fallen and weak, for thy pity we plead:
Grant us the shield of thy sov’reign protection,
Measure thine aid by the depth of our need.
Bend from thy throne at the voice of our crying,
Bend to this earth which thy footsteps have trod:
Stretch out thine arms to us, living and dying,
Mary Immaculate, Mother of God.

Hymnus de Deo victore et salvatore
Laus Dómini ab extrémis terræ.
10Cantáte Dómino cánticum novum,*
laus eius ab extrémis terræ;
qui descénditis in mare et plenitúdo eius,*
ínsulæ et habitatóres eárum.
11Exsúltent desértum et civitátes eius,*
vici, quos hábitat Cedar.
Iúbilent habitatóres Petræ,*
de vértice móntium clament.
12Ponant Dómino glóriam*
et laudem eius in ínsulis núntient.
13Dóminus sicut fortis egrediétur*
sicut vir prœliátor suscitábit zelum;
vociferábitur et conclamábit,*
super inimícos suos prævalébit.
«14Tácui semper, sílui, pátiens fui;†
sicut partúriens ululábo,*
gemam et fremam simul.
15Desértos fáciam montes et colles*
et omne gramen eórum exsiccábo;
et ponam flúmina in ínsulas*
et stagna arefáciam.
16Et ducam cæcos in viam, quam nésciunt,*
et in sémitis, quas ignoravérunt, ambuláre eos fáciam;
ponam ténebras coram eis in lucem*
et prava in recta».
Glória Patri et Fílio*
et Spirítui Sancto.
Sicut erat in princípio et nunc et semper*
et in sǽcula sæculórum.
Amen.
Laus Dómini ab extrémis terræ.

God, the victor and saviourLet the praise of the Lord resound from the ends of the earth.
Sing a new song to the Lord:
sing his praise from the ends of the earth.
Praise him, who go down to the sea;
and all that are in the sea,
islands and their inhabitants.
Let the desert rejoice,
and the cities of the desert,
the villages where the people of Kedar live.
Let those who dwell in Petra rejoice,
and cry out from the mountain-tops.
Let them give glory to the Lord,
and proclaim his praise among the islands.
The Lord will go forth like a warrior,
like a man of war he will stir up zeal;
he will shout and cry out;
he will prevail against his foes.
“I have always been silent,
I have kept silence and waited;
but now I shall cry out like a woman in labour,
I shall groan and tremble.
I shall lay waste the mountains and hills,
I shall wither their grass,
I shall turn rivers into deserts,
I shall dry up the marshes.
I shall lead the blind along a way they do not know;
in paths unknown to them I shall make them walk.
I shall make the darkness that is around them into light.
I shall make crooked things straight.”
Glory be to the Father and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning,
is now, and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.
Let the praise of the Lord resound from the ends of the earth.

Ps 134:1-12
| Psalm 134 (135)
|
Gaudens gaudébo in Dómino, et exsultábit ánima mea in Deo meo, quia índuit me vestiméntis salútis et induménto iustítiæ circúmdedit me, quasi sponsam ornátam monílibus suis.
|
I exult for joy in the Lord,
my soul rejoices in my God,
for he has clothed me in the garments of salvation,
he has wrapped me in the cloak of integrity,
like a bride adorned in her jewels.
|
℣. Elégit eam Dóminus,* Et præelégit eam. Elégit.
℟. In tabernáculo suo habitáre facit eam.* Et præelégit eam. Glória Patri. Elégit.
|
The Lord chose her. He chose her before she was born.
– The Lord chose her. He chose her before she was born.
He made her live in his own dwelling-place.
– The Lord chose her. He chose her before she was born.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
– The Lord chose her. He chose her before she was born.

in domo David púeri sui,
sicut locútus est per os sanctórum,*
qui a sæculo sunt, prophetárum eius,
salútem ex inimícis nostris*
et de manu ómnium, qui odérunt nos;
in remissiónem peccatórum eórum,
per víscera misericórdiæ Dei nostri,*
in quibus visitábit nos óriens ex alto,
illumináre his, qui in ténebris et in umbra mortis sedent*
ad dirigéndos pedes nostros in viam pacis.
Glória Patri et Fílio*
et Spirítui Sancto.
Sicut erat in princípio et nunc et semper*
et in sǽcula sæculórum.
Amen.

The Messiah and his forerunnerThey all joined together in constant prayer, with Mary the mother of Jesus.
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,
for he has come to his people and brought about their redemption.
He has raised up the sign of salvation
in the house of his servant David,
as he promised through the mouth of the holy ones,
his prophets through the ages:
to rescue us from our enemies
and all who hate us,
to take pity on our fathers,
to remember his holy covenant
and the oath he swore to Abraham our father,
that he would give himself to us,
that we could serve him without fear
– freed from the hands of our enemies –
in uprightness and holiness before him,
for all of our days.
And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High:
for you will go before the face of the Lord to prepare his path,
to let his people know their salvation,
so that their sins may be forgiven.
Through the bottomless mercy of our God,
one born on high will visit us
to give light to those who walk in darkness,
who live in the shadow of death;
to lead our feet in the path of peace.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning,
is now, and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.
They all joined together in constant prayer, with Mary the mother of Jesus.

Let us proclaim the greatness of our Saviour who chose to be born of the Virgin Mary. Confident that he will hear us, we ask:
– Lord, may your mother pray for us.
Sun of justice, you showed your day was dawning in the immaculate Virgin Mary;
help us to walk in the daylight of your presence.
– Lord, may your mother pray for us.
Eternal Word, in the living flesh of Mary you found a dwelling place on earth;
remain with us for ever in hearts free from sin.
– Lord, may your mother pray for us.
Christ, our Saviour, you willed that your mother should be there when you died;
through her intercession may we rejoice to share your suffering.
– Lord, may your mother pray for us.
Loving Saviour, while hanging on the cross, you gave your mother Mary to be the mother of John;
let us be known as her children by our way of living.
– Lord, may your mother pray for us.
|
Pater noster, qui es in cælis:
sanctificétur nomen tuum;
advéniat regnum tuum;
fiat volúntas tua, sicut in cælo et in terra.
Panem nostrum cotidiánum da nobis hódie;
et dimítte nobis débita nostra,
sicut et nos dimíttimus debitóribus nostris;
et ne nos indúcas in tentatiónem;
sed líbera nos a malo.
| Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
|
Deus, misericordiárum Pater, cuius Unigénitus, cruci affíxus,
beátam Maríam Vírginem, Genetrícem suam,
Matrem quoque nostram constítuit,
concéde, quǽsumus, ut, eius cooperánte caritáte,
Ecclésia tua, in dies fecúndior, prolis sanctitáte exsúltet
et in grémium suum cunctas áttrahat famílias populórum.
Per Dóminum nostrum Iesum Christum, Fílium tuum,
qui tecum vivit et regnat in unitáte Spíritus Sancti, Deus,
per ómnia sǽcula sæculórum.
Amen.
| O God, Father of mercies,
whose Only Begotten Son, as he hung upon the Cross,
chose the Blessed Virgin Mary, his Mother, to be our Mother also;
grant, we pray,
that with her loving help,
your Church may be more fruitful day by day,
and exulting in the holiness of her children,
may draw to her embrace all the families of the peoples.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
|
Amen.
| The Lord bless us, and keep us from all evil, and bring us to everlasting life.
Amen.
