Downloading

What you are downloading is the installer program which installs the Universalis program itself. Once you have downloaded the Universalis installer, you need to run it.

Here are instructions for the most popular browsers, starting from the moment when you click on the link:

Internet Explorer

The illustrations here are from Internet Explorer 8 running on Windows XP. Other versions will look a bit different but will behave in a similar way.

Internet Explorer will ask you if you want to run or save the file UnivWin.exe:

We recommend that you choose "Run", because it's simplest. Once you have chosen "Run", the file will be downloaded, and Internet Explorer will ask you again whether you want to run it:

Choose "Run", and the Universalis installation will begin.

Firefox

The illustrations here are from Firefox 8.0.1 running on Windows XP. Other versions will look a bit different but will behave in a similar way.

Firefox will ask you if you want to save the file UnivWin.exe:

Choose "Save File". The Downloads window will open, and will show you the progress of the download.

When the download is complete, an entry will appear at the top of the Downloads window, looking something like this:

Double-click on this entry.

Firefox may ask you:

If this question appears, choose "OK".

Finally, it will ask you if you really want to run the downloaded file:

Choose "Run", and the Universalis installation will begin.

Installation

The Universalis installer will ask you to accept the licence agreement, and it will then install the Universalis program.

What happens next

You now have a copy of the Universalis program on your computer. For operating instructions, see the left-hand column of this web page.

To start with, your new program will give you full texts and content for a month. Outside that period, you will get only the calendar. To remove the time limit, you need to activate the program. See Activation.
