Liturgy of the Hours:

Psalms, prayers and readings from every Hour: Morning Prayer, the three daytime Hours (Terce, Sext and None), Evening Prayer, Night Prayer and the Office of Readings.

Translations in the Liturgy of the Hours:

The readings are from the Jerusalem Bible. For the psalms, you have a choice between our own translation (as seen on the Web) and the Grail version, which is used in most of the English-speaking world.

The Order of Mass:

The new English translation of the Order of Mass, which came into use in 2011. You can optionally view the text in Latin and some other languages side by side with the English.

Readings at Mass:

First Reading, Responsorial Psalm, Second Reading, Gospel Acclamation and Gospel.

Translations of the Readings at Mass:

You have a choice between the Jerusalem Bible readings with the Grail psalms (used in most of the English-speaking world) and the New American Bible readings and psalms (used in the USA). It is the same download for both, and you can switch between the translations whenever you want.

(Windows and Mac versions only) If you have the Sony Reader, Nook, Amazon Kindle or a similar device, you can create your own e-books for it, containing a day's, a week's, or a month's worth of Universalis content.

(Mac and iOS versions only) If you want, the saint or feast of each day can be automatically added as an event into your events calendar in iCal.

Price

The one-time licence fee is £19.99.

  • In December 2011 this was approximately $31 or €24. To ask Google for an up-to-date estimate, click on these numbers.

Prices for the iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch are cheaper: the Universalis app is £14.99 / $20.99 / €16.99 (for other currencies, check the App Store). Alternatively, you can get the free Catholic Calendar app and buy the Universalis content one month at a time (£0.69 / $0.99 / €0.79 per month).

Obsolete systems

Some systems are too old or limited for us to support. Once this happens, we stop development and make the final version of Universalis on that system available for download free of charge. The version you get will be the most current and complete one at the time that development was stopped. This means that it will not have all the features and content listed in the main descriptions above.

The full Universalis program may be downloaded free of charge for Windows Mobile (Pocket PC) and Palm OS systems. No new features or content will be added after August 2011.

The full Universalis program may be downloaded free of charge for older Mac OS systems: Mac OS 10.4 "Tiger" and all PowerPC-based Macs. No new features or content will be added after October 2011.

One purchase, several systems

If you own more than one computer - for instance, a desktop, a laptop, and a handheld - we think it's unfair to expect you to pay more than once, so we don't. As long as it's for your own use, you can buy a licence once and use it on all your machines. Think of a licence as a book: as long as two different people can't be using it at the same time, we're happy.

From one computer to another

You can use the registration code you have bought from us on more than one computer (as long as they're all yours and not someone else's).

From one iDevice to another

The rules of the App Store say that if you have bought an app for your iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch then you can install it on any other iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch that is connected to the same iTunes account.

From computer to iDevice

Get Catholic Calendar from the App Store. This is a free download. Then enter your registration code into it.

From iDevice to computer

If you have Universalis on your iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch, you can use it to activate Universalis on your computer without requiring a bought registration code. (See instructions for Windows and Mac).
